FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
How much does a Café Belgique performance cost ?
We charge €500 for the performance itself, excluding additional sound or lighting equipment.
If you'd like us to bring FOH speakers and lighting (for a standard event up to 500 people), we charge an additional €200.
For even larger events, we assume the organizers will provide their own lighting and sound. If not, we'd be happy to discuss this with you.
If your event requires paid tickets, we charge a total of 20 free tickets (for our partners and family members).
In case the event is located more than 100 km from Ghent, we may ask for reimbursement for travel or accommodation. However, we will discuss this with the organizers in advance.
We require parking spaces for 5 standard-sized cars for at least two hours before and one hour after the performance. If the organizers cannot provide this, we will charge a supplement of €50 to park nearby.
We also require a small backstage area behind or next to the stage, where we can store our equipment and relax before and after the performance.
How long is a Café Belgique performance ?
We don't have a fixed playing time or duration. We work with the organizer to determine this.
We prefer to play for approximately 90 minutes.
However, if we're only allowed to play for one hour, we'll shorten our setlist.
And if you'd like us to play for two hours or two one-hour sessions, we're happy to accommodate you and your event.
Our price remains the same, whether we are only allowed to play for 1 hour or whether we can play for 2 hours.
What songs does Café Belgique play ?
We currently have over 100 songs in our potential playlist... all Belgian!
We play different songs each set and consult with the organizers to create a set based on the expected audience and what we think they'll like to hear. See our repertoire in the menu above.
Is it a young or older audience? Do you prefer louder songs or not?...
Requests can even be requested in advance when booking, and we'll check if this is possible (or not).
Does Café Belgique take care of all the sound and lighting ?
Café Belgique has its own digital mixer, which we use to feed the front of house speakers.
As we also have our own in-ear headphones, we don't need monitors on stage.
The organizer usually provides the front of house speakers and lighting.
If not, we can bring Front of House speakers and/or lighting, for an additional contribution of €200.
Does Café Belgique require a stage ?
A real stage isn't absolutely essential, but it does enhance the audience and the performance.
It's very important however that the venue is covered to protect from rain, etc.
It's also important that we have at least a 4m wide x 4m deep area available for our performance.
What technical equipment do we need ?
We only need two power connections (one to the left and one to the right of the stage) to connect our amplifiers, mixer, pedals, etc.
If the organizer provides the front-of-house (FOH) speakers for the audience, we expect the XLR cables (or possibly 6.35mm jacks) from those speakers to our mixer to be available.
Do we need to provide food and drinks for Café Belgique ?
We don't require anything extravagant... we only ask for simple drinks (water, cola, wine, beer, etc.) and something to eat (sandwiches, pasta, fries, or something similar) for our six band members.
We are also open to alternative solutions if you can't/don't want to provide drinks and food (vouchers or tokens we can use at your event), or an additional contribution so we can go out for a small meal nearby is also acceptable.
How can we get the rider ?
We're happy to send you our rider upon request via the contact form or email hmat@telenet.be.
The rider is included in the agreement between both parties.
How does payment work ?
Once we have agreed on the venue, time, and duration of the performance, as well as any additional equipment required, we will send you our agreement with the full technical and hospitality rider for signature.
At that time, we also request a 50% deposit of the agreed-upon amount, of which €100 is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.
The balance will be settled upon arrival at the event itself (or can, of course, be transferred in advance).
Can we cancel after booking ?
Yes, you can.
We hope not, but it can happen that an event cannot go ahead and needs to be canceled.
Cancellations are possible up to 7 days before the event, and we will refund the deposit - €100.
If you cancel less than 7 days before the event, we will keep the full deposit, but you will not have to pay the remaining 50%.
Do you have artist status ?
Yes, we are affiliated with the Federal Service "Working in the Arts" (Working in the Arts | Indemnité des arts en amateur).
So, if you want, you can also reimburse us through the Amateur Arts Allowance (AKV).
Who manages the SABAM regulations ?
In accordance with legal regulations, it is the responsibility of the event organizer to arrange SABAM.
Upon simple request, Café Belgique will send the setlist that will be played at the event.
